Comet Garradd C/2009 P1 Crossing M71 Globular Cluster

Post by weixing »

Hi,
http://www.universetoday.com/88500/come ... tta-video/

It's seem like quite a bright comet and confirm that Singapore had an Anti-Astronomical event Weather System... Anything happen up there, we are overcast! Sigh [smilie=bad-atmosphere.gif]

Have a nice day.

Well we just had the privilege to experience that with Steve's superb 12.5" homemade dob at Mersing, albeit it was just a short stint, but what a sight! Steve managed to framed both the comet and M71 with his Panoptic, and what an incredible sight it was! [smilie=admire2.gif]

Hi,
Weather look ok and now the comet is near zenith (in Vulpecula near Sagitta) when night fall... a bit too high for my grab and go leh... :-(

Anyway, at mag. 8.1, I think it should be visible in bino if weather is clear.

Below is the finder chart for those who interested:

Hi,
Please note the chart is for tomorrow(Friday) night... didn't note the date when printing the chart... [smilie=embarrassed2.gif] Friday night as indicate in the chart above, it'll be very close to coathanger cluster.

By the way, I think I manage to see it just now using my bino, but cannot confirm... Hope tomorrow night will be a clear night, so can look for it in my scope.

Have a nice day.

Hmm.. attempted to view the comet 2 hours ago. Could not really confirm if I saw the comet or was it very faint stars through my G&G refractor and bino. Due to the haze, the dim stars were a bit diffused.

Hi Weixing. Thanks for the finder charts. Looks like the "comet" I found on thursday nite was the wrong one. lol. Will try again tonight. Btw, what is the source of the photos? You created them? What is the name of the software? Thanks!
