Hi Kong, that's a nice picture. Would stopping down 1 or 2 stops help to round up the stars at the edges? I have yet done wide field photography.

Great image, Kong.

Nice round star, good focus and pleasant black sky. Just a little bit less red, noticeable from the orion nebula and betelgeuse. Might improve from the colour setting in IRIS?

Looking forward to see more images from you.

Hi,
Nice image... You should took more of this type of wide field images as you have less light pollution problem... :)
EOS350D (unmod), IDAS LPS-P2 filter, Tamron 28-70mm F2.8 at around 60mm, 6 x 55sec, F2.8, ISO800 processed and stacked in Iris. unguided on LXD-75, imperfect polar alignment.
60mm with GOTO mount at 55 sec exposure should be ok. As what cataclysm suggest, you should step down a bit more to make the star look better at the edge.

Have a nice day.

CK, i tried processing m42 but the contrast between the center and the edge nebulosity is way too high.... got to learn from you sifu on how to do one like your photo of the year...

weixing, the light pollution in my backyard is getting worse. the LPS filter helped a lot.
