CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
my first attempt on iris. all critiques are welcome.
EOS350D (unmod), IDAS LPS-P2 filter, Tamron 28-70mm F2.8 at around 60mm,
6 x 55sec, F2.8, ISO800 processed and stacked in Iris. unguided on LXD-75, imperfect polar alignment.
Nice round star, good focus and pleasant black sky. Just a little bit less red, noticeable from the orion nebula and betelgeuse. Might improve from the colour setting in IRIS?
Hi,
Nice image... You should took more of this type of wide field images as you have less light pollution problem...

60mm with GOTO mount at 55 sec exposure should be ok. As what cataclysm suggest, you should step down a bit more to make the star look better at the edge.
Have a nice day.

CK, i tried processing m42 but the contrast between the center and the edge nebulosity is way too high.... got to learn from you sifu on how to do one like your photo of the year...
weixing, the light pollution in my backyard is getting worse. the LPS filter helped a lot.
