You'll be pleased to see that I have uploaded the two photos (one of them with neater annotations) to the Wiki.chrisyeo wrote:Cool photos!
Would you mind uploading them to the wiki? Just login, upload the photos, and add them to the Mersing page.
Btw, I think the lamppost to turn into the field in N26. Can someone confirm this?

Have also uploaded to the Wiki another two annotated photos of the key road signs.
Can't remember the lamp-post number.
I thought I might be travelling with VinSnr. Am not myself driving up.

well done Gavin! Amazing details! You even have a bird's eye view too.
May I suggest also : to change the red font to perhaps white to make it more legible and perhaps to indicate the route all the way from the causeway ?

I think you are referring to the fonts in the printed road map? I have now scanned the same map of the Mersing to Telok Sari area (previously it was a photo) and re-written the words over it. I think the map and the fonts are much clearer now:

As for the route all the way from Singapore.... too tired. Maybe someone else can do it!
Edit: here is the map uploaded to the Wiki.

Yes it is the same place, the Observing Field with a few tall coconut trees at Telok Sari. The GPS co-ordinates in YiRen's website listed in your post above are identical (to the last decimal number) to the one on the Singastro Wiki. As stated, it is Matthew's GPS numbers.
I have also yesterday used Google Earth to check: these numbers correspond to the latitude and logitude numbers for the Observing Field as shown in Google Earth.

A map of Johor has now been added to the Singastro Wiki on how to get to Mersing:
http://www.singastro.org/web/mediawiki/ ... _get_there
I have also added more descriptive text of the route and distance from JB to the Observing Field, using the numbers provided in a Tourism Malaysia map and using the distance measure feature of Google Earth. Comments and suggestions welcome!
