At zenith, the observer using that 6 inch f/15 refractor has to be leopard crawling. :P

How about taking 3 images using the achro, focussed thru the red, green and blue filters and then combine them into the final image? Will that work?

Isn't that what imagers are doing with RGB frames? Except they shoot in B&W through the filters...

Yes, but how about shooting in colour? If the resultant is as good as an apo, then can just stick with the achro but do more work.
