I can certainly carry one more person in the rear of my car but it will be a bit of a squeeze since the Subaru WRX has rather cramped rear leg room because of the bucket seats in front. I might need to bring an electric food warmer in the back also because I am vegetarian and need to carry my own makan, but we can work out the space arrangements. Better to get a reasonably slim person without a telescope or with a compact telescope in the rear of my car. :) Placing the telescope in the boot of the car is another option, I will be trying to drive gently, but I cannot guarantee the safety of the delicate optics because of the bad road conditions.

Ok... at the moment, the best solution is to let Jiahao and his friend to continue with whoever has space to take them. My wife and I have decided that we will join only if there are more seats available should another vehicle be coming along.

Afterall, my wife and I have seen glimpses of the Milky Way and meteors while we were in Myanmar not too long ago. Let those who have yet to be bitten by the astronomy bug go and feel the wonders for themselves.

Hi alvin,

That's so kind of you to make the offer. Actually in China I've seen beatiful dark skies, but my friend hasn't and he has been wanting to see it once for a long time. Anyway hope there will be more seats available for all of us. Observing with big scopes like the 12.5" Dob is sure gonna be an exceptionally nice experience.

No problem, Jiahao :) No point for the few of us to book the van. It will become too expensive for all of us. Besides, you are still a student and not yet earning a salary. Your friend and you should be able to take rides from the others who have one or two passenger space left in their cars.

We (wife and I) decided this morning that we will go next time, not now... and have arranged new appointments for that day. Wishing all of you an enjoyable time and waiting to read some interesting reports of the trip :)

Super clear skies!

Branzzz, the mini-van has been cancelled due to the poor response. You may want to hitch a ride instead.
We do it in the dark...
Portaball 12.5"
Takahashi Mewlon 210
William Optics 110ED
...and all night long!

May be Gavin friend's car can take 1 more
One more car will take the rest, and mini van is not needed.
What happen to Weixing, how is he getting there?
VinSnr not confirmed going, that's why his car is 'empty'
