Since one of Peilian's original intention is to donate it to a school, the right thing to do, IMO, is to accept rlow's offer to have it cleaned then donate it to the special school mentioned by chee chien.
The singastro fund should be enough to upkeep this website.
thanks,

Fungal Infected C8 up for Adoption/Donation
Sure, I can help to clean the optics and collimate it. Donating the C8 to a school is a wonderful idea.
If this was Peilian's scope, then I believe the fork mount & wedgepod was originally passed from me to Arief to David to Peilian.

I have helped out a few observation sessions for children from special schools before at the Science Centre observatory, and I can tell you that these physically (or mentally)-challenged children are delighted to see the Moon and Saturn through the scope for the first time! I am also currently working on a special school project. So donating it to a special school is very good and meaningful idea, but unless one of the teacher knows how to use the scope, someone will have to be there to operate it for them.

gavn?? I tot it's pelican's scope?rlow wrote:Gavin, I can clean it for you foc. Have been doing this for our singastro members for a few years.
This is getting confusing...
Whether is the fungus inside or outside the corrector or inside the primary or behind the primary, I can clean it too. But if anyone prepared to pay Astro scientic a few hundreds for this, then pay me 150 will do..haha....

Dear all,
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. After the posting, I have managed to get some help cleaning out the scope and am very thankful for that. While I really wouldn't mind donating the scope for a good cause, honestly I wouldn't mind either if I can recoop part of the cost of the scope. I've receive several offers and will consider the merits and reply via PM.
Once again thank you all who have offered their help one way or other.
