Where to get manfrotto gearhead 410JR

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

The stiffness can be adjusted. If you peel off the Manfrotto sticker, you will notice the hex screw for tension adjustment. I studied the geared head anatomy a few years ago.

Try to get the Vixen Portamount. It has slo-mo controls and it is quite light. However, it is still not as compact as the 410 Jr.

If you intend to use higher powers, the slo-mo is indispensable, IMHO.

I say, forget about the manfrotto... The jerky motion and balancing issue just doesn't make this mount suitable for astro use.

Get the Universal Astronomics MicroStar Basic from astrobargains instead -> http://www.astrobargains.com/Accessories-mounts.htm
Its miles ahead of the manfrotto in terms of ease of use...

The portamount is a good choice too if you can get it at a reasonable price.

Or get from Desert Sky. Their mount are quite reasonable in price and you can do double mounting if you intend to upgrade in future.

Hmm looks like a good alternative to the microstar.

hmm..I have tried those alt-az mount before, but I still prefer something with slo-mo control for high powers.

As with all astro gear, try before you buy!
