Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

No, Meade does not have one.
Orion SVP extension with slight modification can work.
What I'm looking is probably a local fabricated one.

Post by kochu »

Hi Wee Kong,

The drawing is attached. I have one. I do not know whether to call it Half or quarter pier.

Hi,
Have you check out the Vixen half pier?? I think it should also work on Meade LXD75.

Have a nice day.

Thanks Kochu.
I got this drawing from CK Lim (he got it somewhere in the archive here)
May I know if the dimension is for the Standard LXD75 as reflected in the Meade Catalog. If yes, can I call you to check further.

Thanks,
Wee Kiong

LXD 75 Half Pier

Post by kochu »

Hi Wee Kiong,

I have not checked with the Meade drawing dimensions. The dimensions were measured by me from actual mount before giving to work shop , way back in 2004. I have been using it with out any problem. Only thing is that you have to use a longer central bolt. If you want to have a look you can drop in any evening after 9 pm .

Hi,

Personally, I prefer to modify the tripod base so that the counterweight bar is in the middle of 2 legs. Save the weight of the half pier and the instability due to the half pier.

I got a 6" diameter half pier with Vixen GPD adapter made by Aftech for $225 (they can make adapters for any mounts as long as u have the drawings). You probaby just need a 4" diameter half-pier so price probably is cheaper.
