this is my first post here, so a little intro..
i have been interested in astromony since i was 11 (24 yrs ago!), but never really had the time or $$ to pursue my interest.. (not that i have it now )
i recently purchased a nikon d300 and am now very keen to pursue astrophotography.. can anyone recommend a beginner scope (budget (new or used is fine)) and other necessary accessories needed for astrophotography?
something portable would be great as i dont drive..
cataclysm - thanks for the link.. wow, looks very chim and expensive, astrophotography that is... think i will look at getting a budget scope to look at the stars and moon first..and drool...
Clifford60 - ya... me and darthvader distant relatives.. he from the dark side, me from the duck side LOL...

Actually not that chim for most part and you don't need to understand all the theory to take astrophoto, but you'll need lots of patient. Also, it's not that expensive to take decent astrophoto, especially you already had 1/3 of the setup... the DSLR.
Have a nice day.

I said you are from the dark side because you are a Nikon user. D300 is even darker. Me too owner of a D300. So, we should be a closer relatives of Darthvader.
well.. i just acquire a lens for my camera.. so, i guess getting a scope and mount will have to wait for awhile.. *sob*
in the meantime, i will try what loneoceans have done in this thread http://www.singastro.org/viewtopic.php?t=5987 ... amazing!!
