Whoah anat you're hardcore man...the closest I've got to doing anything risky to my electronics like that has been to do a window mod on a 3.5" Hard Drive [smilie=crying2.gif]

seen that many months ago. reason there was little or no interest in the greater community was the exorbitant price. Tachyon is right, for the money, get a decent CCD camera and you can go further. QSI just released the 583 8.3M for less than USD4K. Market will look interesting from now on, as there are more CCD manufacturing competition emerging.

Wow Anat, you are hardcore. May be you can start a mod job at a fee, at the same time you can perfect the mod.

Wow! Impressive work! Anat. [smilie=good-job.gif]

I did a similar mod on the DSI III pro, albeit a much simpler approach, since the design of the DSI casing acts as a natural heat sink. It was built with a cold finger extending to the back of the ccd from the back cover. All I had to do is to shave off those fins on the back cover in order to attache the peltier cooler. However, the cooler works too well and dewing become an issue. I solved the problem by recirculating dry air into the ccd chamber with an aquarium air pump. Got some pictures to share:

The camera looks quite different from its original from after attaching the peltier cooler and insulator.

And here the camera mated to the colour filter wheel.
