Hi,
Have a nice day.
No... you should not use a solar filters for solar projection. But this method is not suitable for scope that use mirror, because the heat may damage the mirror.are solar filters required for solar projection on a cardboard?
Have a nice day.

What i do is to remove the eyepiece, then aim through the tube. You should be able to see one big bright patch when your scope is pointed at the sun.kingkong wrote: next thing is how to aim....?
can use a piece of cardboard behind the finder scope. stand in front of the finder scope with back to the sun. and use the projection on the paper to aim.
probably have to close off or remove the finder scope when observing through the eyepiece. otherwise may get zapped.

I personally do not recommend anyone to use this method... it is extremely dangerous!!
I hope anyone who observe the sun use the proper equipment, method and observe all safety precaution... Please remember that you got only one pair of eye.
Have a nice day.

I hope i didn't cause any misunderstanding. i aim through the tube with a full-aperture solar filter in place. Why don't you try it. i find it better than the shadow method.weixing wrote:Hi,What i do is to remove the eyepiece, then aim through the tube.
