Your views on Canon 550D for astrophotography

um yes that's what Christian Buil says.. that Nikon overstates their ISO sensitivity, and that they process their RAW files. And so Nikon is less suitable fo AP.

my point is.. you don't need to have the latest, greatest camera for AP.

Johannes Schedler was doing fantastic images 10 years ago with a Canon D60. Ditto for Hap Griffin.

So get an old 300D or 350D, IR-mod it, and be done with it. :-)

The main thing you'll miss is live view for critical focusing.

haha yeah! with the right processing technique. you can get amazing results with older cameras too. i am still using a modified 10D at the moment for astrophotography.
