CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Wow....nice photos!
Too bad we can't see anything like this in SGP and have to travel all the way to another country just to see the beautiful skies *Sigh*

Mersing Jul29/30-NGC6992

Post by kochu »

I missed Jul 28 at Mersing , which was best of 3 nights, I was told. On 29 th and 30 th The sky conditions was steady only after 3 O'clock.
The sky coverage and quality is better than Sedili.
Anyway I could not complete my Veil project. Only 3 each RGB and one L could be acquired,

Part of Veil (NGC6992) taken with SW 120ED/EQ6 400 sec each RGB x3 and one 400 sec L/ Maxim DL/EQdir/DSI/QSI583WS at -10 degrees.

Guys,

Very nice photos !

Looking at the setup, are you guys using televue, Vixen, Takahashi?

I am just wondering as long as the optics are superb, we can still see excellent DSO with 'small' scopes?

Kochu: Looks good. Glad you took the chance to continue to shoot the very last night. Still remembered the moment of the black-out. The sky was not bad then!

Shirox: Lagoon looks much better after the modification heh! :)))

Under dark pristine, you can see alot even with a tiny scope, having said that, aperture still rules. A larger scope will have more light gathering & resolving power. But what a premium refractor does so well is it provide excellent contrasty views, and stars look the ' prettiest ' through them.

Yes Remus,

That Blackout caused about 3 hrs lost time. By 5.30 the object was so low, the last shot did not show any sign of Veil. I hope I can add some more data next time , provided I can find a way to set the camera at the correct angle . Probably better to do once again.

Thanks for organising the trip.
