Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
Well, went out tonight to try out adjusted scope. Diffraction rings still off to one side but better than before. Will have to go and disturb Sam one day (If he doesn't mind) to get it sraightened out. The views are still pretty good though so no real rush... but it's like a scratch that won't go away.... MUST FIX IT OR WILL GO CRAZY EVENTUALLY!
Vic Maris e-mail me about being perplexed saying that my new lens cell should not need collimation.
Samuel... when can I see you about that Chesire?
Hi,
You could come on one of the evenings this week (other than Wednesday) and we'll use the Cheshire. But actually, if the sky is clear, we could just test it on a real star.
Anyway :
Which picture below is the closest to what you see when you FOCUS on a bright star at high magnification ?
Picture A shows what you will see on a very well collimated scope. Pictures B, C and D show the same star in a scopes with varying degrees of mis-aligned optics. (of course, in reality, the rings could be skewed towards a different direction, depending on how the optics are misaligned on your scope)
Hi,
I just wondering... AT1010 nighthawk should be a very good refractor and refractor should be quite difficult to go out of collimation... did you knock the refractor into something??
Have a nice day.

Nope... when I got it, it was C (see picture above) but After releasing some of the fastening screws its more of B. Won't rest until its A!
Could have been the focuser problem same as mooey's but was following Stellarvues advice...
Sam: Will try and meet you soon. Are you ok with later in the day like say at night? Don't want to abandon wife with the 2 kids until they maybe sleep or something.
