My humble Jupiter shot...

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Hi Jonarsh,

Some items does enhance and simplifies the process of planetary imaging.

1. Aperture of telescope.
Of course there's a saying the bigger the better, but, it's also puts more difficulty to bring it around and set it up especially if you dun have a vehicle like me. If its permanently set up at home then it's not a problem.

2. Choice of camera
Using a dslr does do the job but for better results, you can consider getting a 2nd hand toucam or a dedicated planetary cam like the imaging source cameras. They typically captures the video in avi formats and once u starts to use registax, it registers the good frames, stacks them and gives u the final stacked image. Mono does perform better than osc.

3. Seeing
With the best equipment around if seeing is bad, it's equal to none haha.

I started out abit on planetary and its fun. Keep practicing and you will see yourself improving. Btw, nice capture of Jupiter! [smilie=good-job.gif] l[smilie=good-job.gif]
